On September 5th and 6th, the first meeting of the Young Researcher and Innovator Committee, organized by COST Action EU-LI-PHE, took place at the Università degli Studi di Firenze in Italy. The event brought together the youngest members of the project network, who participated in collaborative discussions aimed at developing strategies for the communication, dissemination, and valorization of the Action’s outcomes.

Participants worked in three teams, focusing on designing a newsletter, organizing webinars, and developing a mailing list. The second day was dedicated to discussions on scientific publications, articles, and the creation of a textbook, all of which are planned outputs of the Action.

Prof. Luca Fontanesi, the Action Chair, provided insights into EU funding opportunities for young researchers, explaining how to apply for and make the most of these resources. Dr. Adna Ašić, the Science Communication Coordinator of EU-LI-PHE, delivered a session on leadership and science communication within the framework of the project, supported by the COST Association (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).

A special thank you goes to Prof. Luca Fontanesi for his leadership and support to the next generation of scientists in livestock genetics and breeding, as well as the University of Florence for graciously hosting the event.
