We are proud to share that Dr. Adna Ašić, Science Communication Coordinator for COST Action EU-LI-PHE, recently attended the European Seminar on Agrobiodiversity & SAVE Annual Meeting 2024, held from September 9th to 11th at the University of Torino in Turin, Italy. Dr. Ašić presented the ongoing efforts of EU-LI-PHE to boost phenotyping in livestock species, a topic that garnered significant attention during the event.

Her presentation, titled “COST Action CA22112: Boosting Phenotyping in Livestock Species”, focused on the application of advanced genomic technologies for improving phenotyping processes. These innovations are essential for preserving biodiversity and ensuring that livestock species can adapt to the challenges posed by climate change. The session emphasized how phenotyping can play a pivotal role in safeguarding genetic resources, making it a crucial tool in modern livestock management.

Several breeder organizations, as well as groups working in biodiversity conservation, expressed strong interest in Dr. Ašić’s presentation. Notably, her talk was the only one at the event to focus specifically on phenotyping, making it a valuable contribution to discussions on how technological advancements can support both conservation and production goals in the livestock sector.

The meeting, which brought together experts from across Europe, provided an excellent platform for exchanging insights on traditional livestock breeds and crop varieties in the context of climate change. Dr. Ašić’s participation highlighted the importance of phenotyping as part of broader efforts to ensure the sustainability of livestock breeding.

We would like to extend our thanks to the University of Torino for hosting this important event and to the SAVE Foundation for their continued support in promoting agrobiodiversity and conservation.
