We are pleased to announce the 2nd EU-LI-PHE Training School, titled “From Data to Discovery: Measuring & Analyzing Livestock Phenotypes.” This event is organized within the framework of the EU-LI-PHE COST Action and is now open for applications.

📍 Location: Hogenheuvelcollege, Naamsestraat 69, 3000 Leuven, Belgium
📅 Dates: 14 – 18 July 2025

This training school is designed for young researchers and professionals interested in cutting-edge methods for measuring, monitoring, and analyzing livestock phenotypes. Participants will gain practical and theoretical knowledge on:

  • Sensor technology for livestock monitoring
  • Time-series and frequency-based signal processing
  • Machine learning applications in animal science
  • Resilience modeling and welfare assessment
  • Mid-infrared spectral analysis for dairy production
  • Sound analysis for interpreting animal vocalizations
  • Computer vision techniques for behavior monitoring
  • Imaging and computational strategies for insect phenotyping.

The program includes interactive workshops, hands-on exercises using real datasets, and group discussions, culminating in student project presentations.

Participants must submit a one-page description of their ongoing research project and data analysis needs. Selected candidates will present their project on the final day and discuss how the training school methodologies can support their work.

The training school will be conducted onsite, with a hybrid mode activated only if the number of applications exceeds the onsite capacity. Only the trainees from COST Member Countries are eligible for reimbursement to support their participation.
