We are pleased to highlight the recent Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) undertaken by our member Dr. Yansen Chen from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, University of Liège. Yansen was hosted by Dr. Bingjie Li’s research group at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) in Edinburgh, UK during May 2025.
Supported by the COST Action EU-LI-PHE, this mobility aimed to deepen collaboration between the University of Liège and SRUC in the field of livestock phenomics. During his stay, Yansen engaged in intensive discussions with SRUC researchers focusing on data structures, phenotyping strategies, and the integration of omics with phenotypic data. This exchange allowed both teams to align their research priorities and identify promising avenues for future cooperation.
The EU-LI-PHE funding and network provided an essential framework for this exchange, enriching Yansen’s expertise by exposing him to new methodologies and perspectives in phenomics research. Importantly, this STSM expanded his professional network within the SRUC community, paving the way for joint publications and collaborative projects.
“This experience was highly beneficial for my career, fostering connections that will support future joint publications and collaborative projects. I sincerely thank EU-LI-PHE for this valuable opportunity.”, said Yansen about his experience during the STSM.
We congratulate Yansen Chen and look forward to the continued benefits of this partnership!
