Our COST Action CA22112 EU-LI-PHE proudly participated in two COST Connect events in October.

On October 9th-10th, we participated in an event focused on advancing research to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Represented by Prof. Tomas Norton (Action Vice Chair) and Geena Cartick (Action Vice Science Communication Coordinator), the delegation contributed to discussions highlighting the crucial role of science in tackling global challenges. The event featured collaborative efforts of COST Actions engaging with UN agencies, showcasing diverse research areas, including soil health, mental health, migration, and sustainable food systems. Representatives from UNRIC and UNESCO underscored the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation and shared best practices for maximizing impact.

On October 17th-18th, we participated in another COST Connect event on Agriculture and its Products, in which our Action was represented by Prof. Luca Fontanesi (Action Chair), Dr. Adna Ašić (Science Communication Coordinator and WG5 Leader) and Dr. Patricia Ask-Gullstrand (YRI Committee Member). During the event, several topics were discussed, including agricultural career attractiveness, food security and monitoring, impact of research on farmers, networking and collaboration in agriculture and livestock sector, and shaping of the EU policy and funding frameworks by the scientific community. With participation of industry representatives and European Commission affiliates, we received valuable information about future funding mechanisms planned at the EU level and topics of special focus in the upcoming period.

Our participation emphasized the commitment to leveraging cutting-edge research and networking to support SDG implementation and shaping of the EU funding mechanisms in the near future. This engagement reflects the Action’s dedication to fostering collaboration and creating tangible solutions to achieve a sustainable future.
