Claudia Kasper

Working Group 2 Vice Leader
Agroscope
Switzerland
Deputy Head of Group Animal GenoPhenomics at Agroscope ART Research Institution, Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs (DEA). Claudia Kasper currently works at the Animal Production Systems and Animal Health, Agroscope. Claudia does research in agricultural genetics and genomics. Her current project is 'Genetic and genomic bases of dietary protein efficiency in pigs'. It centers around the question 'How can protein requirement in pig production be reduced?' Swiss fattening pigs show a potential for breeding particularly protein-efficient animals, which could significantly reduce their environmental impact. In order to quantify this potential and develop genetic testing, the genetic basis of protein efficiency has to be assessed. She is involved in several national and international projects on livestock genomics and phenomics.
